Non-academic activities

When I'm not studying, I most of all like to read. Besides reading I also like going for walks (usually with my dog). Most of the time we just roam the woods around our house and watch nature, take photos or pick mushrooms or berries. In winter we go skiing or sledding. The nature in this part of the country is very beautiful and there are many places to discover. Often we drive somewhere further off and go for a walk there.

I recently found out that it's a lot of fun to assemble jigsaw puzzles and I bought a big jigsaw puzzle (1000 pieces) with a beautiful picture of a countryside with a moose standing in a stream (drawn by Persis Clayton Weirs). To my surprise I assembled it quite quickly and I glued it together and plan to hang it on the wall somewhere...

Sometimes (when I feel like it) I like to draw pictures. Some end up looking good, others don't turn out well at all. I made my parents wall calendars with my drawings for Christmas. I persuaded my dad to buy me books about drawing because I want to learn to draw better but I've not had much time to practice yet and I'm not at all good at shading.

Now and then I ride my horse but I've been very busy recently and don't have time for that much anymore. We have ponies and we sometimes take them for rides in the woods around our house. When I was younger I rode a smaller pony bareback. Now I ride a bigger one and I've also started to use a saddle.

Every year (for several years already) I take part in a Bible competition in Prague. Usually I was second or third but last year and the year before that I even won it. I enjoy reading a few parts of the Bible and then answering the questions and also meeting my friends in the competition.

This is one of my diplomas from the Bible competition:

Here is one of my new books about drawing and a little drawing I made with the help of this book:
