Czech government

My goal was to learn the basic information about the Czech system of government so that I would understand it and be able to explain it to others.

When I finished this, I concentrated on elections. They were a very hot issue then (and still are). I couldn't vote in the first direct presidential elections because I wasn't of age yet but I took great interest in the outcome and I participated in the campaign of my favorite candidate. I decided to focus on the differences between direct and indirect presidential elections, which was a subject that really intrigued me. In the end I decided that indirect elections were probably better. The people who vote can't seriously be expected to know if what the candidates are proposing will be good for their country. Most people don't know that much politics. And because they get to know the candidates through advertisements they can be easily manipulated. How can they know if the candidate will keep his promises?

It was an interesting subject because apart from the basic facts nobody is sure about anything - people have different opinions about what in the system of government is a good idea and what isn't. I enjoyed debating about our government with my family and friends!
