Slovakia

Slovakia is very close to where we live. It is only about 30 km to the border from our house. But I have only been there for a longer time once (in 2012).

It was a wonderful experience. I love nature so I particularly enjoyed the mountains Vysoké Tatry and the national park Slovenský ráj (Slovakian paradise) - a stretch of land full of rocks and canyons and waterfalls and wild forests.

I went with my dad and we also took my dog (Bella). We slept in camps in our car -  we had mattresses in the back.

When we walked through Slovakian Paradise, we sometimes had to climb ladders or walk on wooden footways above water or high in the air. When we got to these places I would carry my dog in my backpack so she wouldn't fall or get stuck somewhere.

On our way back we even visited Dobšinská Ice Cave - a cave full of ice (even in summer) and with ice stalactites and stalagmites. The ice is up to 26 meters thick. About 7000 square meters of the known area of the cave are covered in ice. It is one of the most important ice caves in the world.

These are the Tatry mountains.

This is the cable car that took us to Lomnický štít (the second highest mountain in Slovakia).

This is my dog Bella in the Slovakian paradise.

And this is the kind of ladders and bridges and ledges we walked on.

Here is a photo from the Dobšinská ice cave.

And the Muráň plateau.
